So if you've checked out my other halloween hubs then you should be just about prepared for this year. There's one thing you're missing though...the drinks. This is a vital part of any halloween party or gathering. If your party isn't too great and your guests get bored, a little bit of a twist to your drinks should make things a lot more interesting.

Of course, you want to be able to cater for the kids too, which is why I'll be featuring some non alcoholic halloween drinks as well as the mixed drinks for the adults. It's once again time to raid your drinks cabinet and become a bartender for a night.

And as it's halloween, the drinks will need to be a bit spooky, and that's why they'll be mixed in with some blood, eyeballs or slime...just for good measure of course.

Cocktails
Adults

Adult cocktails are your best chance if your party has been a failure. There's one cocktail that I'd definitely recommend if you want to follow the halloween theme and that's the Bloody-tini. The recipe is as follows:

  • Mix 2oz VeeV, 1oz acai juice and 1/2oz fresh lime with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a martini glass and top with some champagne. Then just attatch a bit of lime to the glass.

It's a very simple cocktail but it turns out a nice red colour. Another cocktail that I'd suggest is the Jack-O-Lantern:

  • Combine 1oz Cognac, 1.5oz orange juice, 1/2oz ginger ale and 1/2oz grand marnier in a shaker. Strain into a lowball glass with ice in it. Then just put an orange slice over the top to make it look like a pumpkin.

Kids
If you've got kids attending your party then you'll want to cater for them too. You should supply the usual things like soda and fruit juice, but there is a kids cocktail I'd recommend, and that's a watermelon and strawberry slush:

  • Blend together cubed watermelon, fresh strawberries, lemon juice and half a cup of sugar. Then add in ice cubes a few at a time, and keep blending until it resembles a slushy. Then serve!

Punch recipes

Punch is a vital part of your halloween party. Your guests can just help themselves, and there are so many different things you can try. I've found one alcoholic option and one non alcoholic punch which I think are the best.
The alcoholic one doesn't have a name, but i've nicknamed it blood n' gore:

  • Wash a latex glove and turn it inside out. Fill with water, tie the end and freeze.
  • Mix 750ml vodka, 4 litres of lemon lime soda and then add a few drops of red food colouring. Float your frozen hand in the bowl and put in some marshmallows. Then put a bit more red food colouring over the top.

And now the non alcoholic option, Eyeball punch:

  • Mix 64oz of Hawaiian Punch with a 2 litre bottle of lemon lime soda. Add some peeled grapes and you're done!
